My name is Andy Miller and I'm a writer, photographer, and explorer.
I'm also a real human with a day job who's far from perfect. I'm a dad, husband, and bourbon lover carrying around too much weight and too little patience.
Here you'll find stories and photos from my adventures throughout North America. My posts range from the extreme (like my annual 100-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail) to the more routine (such as day trips on local trails with my family or early morning photography sessions on work trips). You'll also find stories about dealing with a midlife crisis, visiting my dad during the pandemic, and adventures from my youth in Northern Michigan.
Lastly, I started the Ryan P. Ginther Memorial Hike to honor the memory of an old friend who left behind a young son. Since 2017, we've raised over $30,000 for local youth who are grieving the loss of a parent to attend an overnight grief camp. Those kids - and my friend's memory - are the inspiration behind hiking the Appalachian Trail, a goal I'll complete by 2040. Please take a moment to learn more about how you can support the hike, donate to the cause, or start a trek of your own.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you'll find some humor, inspiration, and common ground while you're here.
